The ACT homeopathy course had its first intake of students in 2015 and has run yearly since then. Its name stands for Advanced Clinical Training in Homeopathy, and has the subtitle “Bridging the MAP and the Patient”. It was first conceived and developed by Graz Baran, Ilana Dannheisser, Helen Dalton and Grazia Gatti, all members of the London Forum study group. Drs Bhawisha and Shachindra Joshi act as course advisors and have allowed the use of some of their successful cases for teaching purposes.
The course was developed to provide a structured way for homeopaths to learn the principles of prescribing according to the Joshis MAP system, but also to enable participants to actively integrate these concepts in their case-taking and daily practice.
Teaching is based on video and paper cases, many generously supplied by the Joshis.
The course is delivered online, over 10 monthly sessions each spanning 2 afternoons. Despite being online, the sessions are based on active learning and participants are encouraged to attend “live” as this ensures maximum learning for the individual as well as solid group formation.
Course content follows two main strands -- building knowledge of the model of MAP and a step by step curriculum of case-taking skills.
Many graduates of the course join the ongoing Forum study group which is a venue to share experiences of solved as well as difficult cases in order to continue learning and refine knowledge of the MAP system.
